Njokobok Community

Encounters, conversations, informal meetings

Njokobok_Community is a non-profit organisation aiming to mobilise people, neighbours and friends interested in working together for the common good, with actions and activities all related to the neighbourhood and its environment. The community comprises various individuals and groups to create situations of sharing and learning from each other. The community shares concerns and interests about making food, growing food, sharing food, and going beyond food into the questions of contemporary art and culture, public participation, and taking care of our living environment.

Neighbourhood Mondays: Community Chef

The series is built upon the cooperation and participation of young non-established artists, international artists written in art history, artists with immigrant backgrounds, Norwegian artists, neighbourhood artists, and others who can contribute to a public debate about diversity, equality, mutual understanding and solidarity.

It is conceptualised and facilitated by visual artist, architect and researcher Apolonija Šušteršič, chef Youssou Diop, and art historian Torunn Liven, hand in hand with a growing group of members of the Njokobok Community.

NJOKOBOK restaurant offers space for neighbourhood activities on Mondays and Tuesdays when it is closed for regular customers. You are welcome to book the space and organise non-commercial events to benefit the neighbourhood community.
