Environmental Awareness Campaign

Exhibition: Art Encounters Biennial

Technical data: roundtable discussions at the city hall, art installation as hub for information and study on the subject of air pollution, forum theatre performances, and guerrilla poster campaign.

The project builds on the research I conducted two decades ago for the exhibition "What if: Art on the Verge of Architecture and Design" at Moderna Museet in Stockholm. My original project explored Stockholm's housing challenges and social segregation. To adapt this work to Timișoara, I began by researching the city's current issues, particularly its severe air pollution problem. The alarming statistic that one in three Timișoara residents suffers from lung cancer highlights the urgency of this issue.

In response, a collaborative group named Zephyr was formed. We partnered with local individuals and organisations to launch an environmental campaign aimed at raising awareness about air pollution. Our campaign included roundtable discussions at the city hall, art installations at the Tram Museum, forum theatre performances, and guerrilla poster campaigns. These activities were part of the Art Encounters Biennial 2019.

The campaign culminated with a forum theatre performance at Basca Theatre on October 26, 2019, marking the end of the biennial.
